How to Move from Whop to Bonzai: Migration Checklist

Last verified: August 12, 2026

Moving from Whop to Bonzai requires an inventory of products, members, entitlements, recurring payments and installed experiences. Whop documents member exports and developer access to members, memberships and related business data. Bonzai does not publicly document an automated Whop importer. Export what Whop permits, ask Bonzai what can be imported, rebuild the destination and run both systems in parallel until access and billing are proven.

Build the destination before touching live access

Use Bonzai as a test environment first. Confirm product support, imports, payout eligibility and recurring-payment handling in writing before changing a live Whop business.

Whop businesses can be more than a product list

A Whop account may combine checkout, memberships, courses, chat, forums, Discord access, software licences, affiliates, tracking links, waitlists and custom apps. A migration that copies only names and prices can break the member experience even when the new checkout works.

Whop componentMigration questionPossible destination
Products and plansWhich price, cadence and access rules are active?Bonzai product and offer configuration
Members and membershipsWho has access, why and until when?Customer import or controlled entitlement process
Courses and filesWhich lessons, downloads and progress records matter?Bonzai course or product delivery
Chat, forum or DiscordIs history required, or only future access?Bonzai community or an external community
Apps and licencesWhat logic grants or removes access?Bonzai feature, external automation or redevelopment
Affiliates and trackingWhich partners and unpaid commissions remain?Recreated Bonzai affiliation programme
Recurring paymentsCan mandates transfer compliantly?Customer-authorised transition if no supported transfer exists

Step 1: map the access graph

For every plan, identify the product, billing status, member group, course, community, software entitlement and automation it controls. Include free members and lifetime buyers. Those groups are easy to miss because they may generate no current payment event.

Create one row per access rule. If cancelling a membership removes Discord roles, course access or an app licence, document the sequence. The new system needs an equivalent rule or a deliberate replacement.

Step 2: export member and business records

Whop’s team-permission documentation states that authorised roles can view, manage and export members, while invoice export is also available to roles with the relevant permissions. Whop’s developer documentation exposes members, memberships and other business resources through its API.

Use the least-privileged authorised account for exports. Retain dated copies of members, plans, payments, invoices, active entitlements, affiliates and support obligations. Do not export or reuse personal data without a defined operational or legal purpose.

Step 3: identify every integration

  • Discord roles and external communities
  • Zapier workflows and webhooks
  • Licence keys or SaaS access checks
  • Email platforms and CRM updates
  • Affiliate tracking and commission operations
  • Analytics, advertising and attribution tools

Whop’s Zapier documentation lists triggers for members, memberships, payments, disputes, invoices, leads and waitlist entries. Each active workflow needs a decision: rebuild, replace or retire. A silent automation is still part of the product.

Step 4: confirm what Bonzai can accept

  1. Can member or subscriber records be imported, and with which fields?
  2. Can imported records receive product access without checkout?
  3. Can course or product progress be preserved?
  4. How are recurring subscriptions, refunds and cancellations handled?
  5. Can external communities or applications be connected through current API or webhook access?

Bonzai’s product page describes built-in payments, product offers and sales pages. Its public creator page lists courses, coaching, community, subscriptions, email, affiliation and downloadable email lists. Public marketing pages are not a migration specification. Ask Bonzai support for the account-specific path.

Step 5: rebuild products and member journeys

Recreate the smallest set of active products first. Map each Whop plan to one Bonzai offer, then test purchase, access, onboarding and cancellation. Consolidate duplicate plans only when current buyers will not lose promised terms.

Community history may not be portable. Decide whether the business needs an archive, a clean restart or an external home. Tell members what will disappear before it disappears.

Step 6: isolate recurring billing

A membership row and a payment mandate are different things. An export may describe who is active without containing a transferable authorisation to charge the customer. Unless the platforms support a compliant transfer, plan for customer re-authorisation.

  • Stop duplicate invoices before the first new renewal.
  • Respect existing prepaid access periods.
  • Give lifetime buyers a documented path.
  • Keep cancellation and refund support available on the old platform.
  • Reconcile the final Whop billing period against the first Bonzai period.

Step 7: run in parallel

CheckpointEvidence required
Product purchaseCorrect charge, currency, receipt and destination record
Member accessCorrect product, course or community entitlement
Failed paymentKnown access and communication behaviour
CancellationNo further charge and correct access end date
Affiliate saleAttribution and commission visible in the expected system
Support caseTeam can locate the buyer across the overlap period
ExportNew customer and transaction data can be retrieved

Step 8: change links, then monitor the exceptions

Replace checkout links on owned pages, social profiles, email sequences and partner materials. Maintain a register of old Whop URLs because links will continue to circulate. Watch failed renewals, access complaints, duplicate records and messages from lifetime buyers.

My own account suspension is documented in Whop Suspended My Account. That experience is one reason I take exportability and concentration risk seriously. It does not remove the need for a fair comparison. Use Bonzai vs Whop to evaluate the current tradeoffs.

Questions about Whop migration

Can Whop members be exported?

Whop’s current team-role documentation includes member export permissions. The exact fields and availability depend on account permissions and the current product interface.

Can Whop memberships be copied into Bonzai?

No public Bonzai documentation reviewed on August 12, 2026 confirms a one-click Whop membership import. Member data, entitlement and recurring payment authorisation must be evaluated separately.

What happens to Discord or custom app access?

It does not move automatically because a product page moved. Rebuild the access rule, keep the external service, or communicate a replacement. Test removal as carefully as access grant.

Should the Whop account be deleted after cutover?

No immediate deletion is recommended. Historical invoices, refunds, disputes, support and member access may still depend on the old account. Retain it according to the business record and customer-service plan.
