Bonzai Pricing and Fees in 2026: What Creators Actually Pay

Last verified: August 15, 2026

Bonzai uses volume-based platform fees rather than a fixed monthly selling plan. Current published rates depend on currency and revenue generated over the previous 30 days. EUR platform fees run from 6% to 1%. USD platform fees run from 5% to 0.7%. Banking fees are added separately.

The fee tier is based on recent platform volume, so the useful comparison is your expected net revenue, not a single headline percentage.

The official pricing page currently lists banking fees of 1.5% plus €0.25 for EUR transactions and 3.4% plus $0.25 for USD transactions. Platform and banking fees are different cost layers. Combining them is necessary when estimating the amount retained from a sale.

A €100 sale example

Assume a creator is in the first EUR tier and sells a €100 product. The published platform fee is €6. The published banking component is €1.50 plus €0.25. The combined fee in this simplified example is €7.75, leaving €92.25 before any applicable tax on fees, currency conversion, refunds, disputes or other adjustments.

At the 5% EUR tier, the same simplified transaction would carry €5 in platform fees plus €1.75 in banking fees. The difference is €1 per €100 transaction. Volume matters, but the product margin and operational work still matter more than a one-point fee change.

A $100 sale example

For a creator below $10,000 in qualifying 30-day volume, the published USD platform fee is 5%. On a $100 transaction, that is $5. The published banking component is $3.40 plus $0.25. The simplified combined fee is $8.65, leaving $91.35 before other applicable adjustments.

These examples are arithmetic illustrations, not payout quotations. A real transaction can involve tax, refunds, chargebacks, currency conversion or country-specific conditions. Use the live pricing and contractual documents for an operational forecast.

What can be started without a monthly selling subscription?

Bonzai’s current public site says creators can set up and launch courses, coaching or communities without an upfront platform subscription. It also states that emailing becomes a paid need when more than 1,000 emails are sent in a month. Premium features and future terms should be checked separately before assuming every tool is included indefinitely.

This pricing shape reduces fixed software cost while an offer is being tested. The tradeoff is variable cost on revenue. A fixed monthly platform can become cheaper at some sales levels, but only if it replaces the same functions and the creator already has the required payment, email and delivery stack.

What the fee is paying for

  • Built-in payment handling without a creator-managed Stripe account
  • Product and service pages inside a creator hub
  • One-time and recurring offers
  • Courses, coaching, paid communities and paid newsletters
  • Email capture, email marketing and welcome sequences
  • Affiliation, subscriber export and additional creator-business tools

A feature list does not prove economic value. Count only the tools you will actually use and the subscriptions they genuinely replace. If Bonzai replaces nothing in the existing stack, its transaction fee is an added cost. If it replaces several systems and reduces payment administration, comparing fees alone understates the decision.

How to compare Bonzai with a fixed-price platform

  1. Estimate monthly sales by currency and product type.
  2. Apply the relevant platform tier and banking fee.
  3. Add paid email or premium features actually required.
  4. List the external tools still needed for scheduling, accounting, support or delivery.
  5. Compare the same operational scope on the alternative platform.
  6. Model refunds and support workload, not only successful transactions.

Who the pricing model fits

Transaction-led pricing is useful for a creator who wants to launch before taking on another fixed subscription. It can also fit a business that values a consolidated payment, product, email and affiliation environment. The model deserves closer scrutiny when monthly volume is high, margins are thin or the business already owns a stable low-cost stack.

Currency matters. The current EUR and USD schedules are not identical, and the banking components differ materially. A comparison written as “Bonzai charges X%” without the currency, volume tier and banking fee is incomplete.

Questions about Bonzai pricing

Does Bonzai have a monthly platform fee?

The current public site presents core setup and selling as free to start, with transaction-led pricing. Email use above the published monthly threshold and premium capabilities may carry separate costs.

Does Bonzai charge 5%?

Sometimes, but 5% is not a universal rate. It currently appears at specific EUR and USD volume tiers. The published schedules range from 6% to 1% in EUR and from 5% to 0.7% in USD, before banking fees.

Are banking fees included in the platform percentage?

No. The current pricing page lists banking fees separately from the volume-based platform fee.

Does a creator need a Stripe account?

Bonzai’s current pricing page states that no Stripe account is required. Eligibility, payout conditions and contractual responsibilities still need to be checked for the creator’s country and business.
